Benjamin Adu Akyeah, popularly known as Xpo Ben-Jamin (EXPO), is a Ghanaian reggae/dancehall artist and one of the most decorated musicians from the Western Region.
Born in the 1990s, he grew up in Sekondi, where his passion for music and entertainment began to take shape.
Xpo Ben-Jamin (Expo) started his education at Young Christian Preparatory School and later attended Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS) for his secondary education. It was during his time at GSTS that he discovered his talent.
His breakthrough moment came during Form One’s Night, where he captivated his entire house, Richie House, with an electrifying performance. He went on to lead his house in the Form One’s Night competition, earning widespread recognition.
It was at this point that he was given the name “Expo”, which he later defined as “Exceptional Potential.”
Throughout his secondary school years, Expo continued to make a name for himself in entertainment. By his final year, he had become the Entertainment Chairman, solidifying his status as a musical powerhouse within the school.
He also recorded one of the biggest songs in GSTS history, “Sophia”, which became an anthem among students.
After completing secondary school, Expo took his music career to the next level. He had the opportunity to record with multiple award-winning artist Stonebwoy, who was then signed to Samini Music. Their collaboration, titled “Love Your Style,” showcased Expo’s unique artistry and lyrical prowess. He later worked with Iwan, another major name in Ghana’s dancehall scene.
Xpo Ben-Jamin, Expo’s career soared as he went on to win Reggae/Dancehall Artist of the Year at the first edition of the Western Music Awards and subsequently secured multiple awards in the years that followed.
His impact on the Western Region’s music industry, so far as reggae /dancehall is concerned, remains unmatched, earning him the title of the most decorated reggae/dancehall artist from the region.
